Community

At Lifestyle Wealth Partners we love our day-to-day work, witnessing the both social and financial dividends our clients can enjoy when they achieve financial freedom.

But out of office hours we also get a real kick from seeing the impact we can have on other people’s lives when we give away our time and money.

Hope & Love = Evolhope

“When my mother was growing up, her next door neighbours, George and Janet Parker, never had children so we became more like extended family over the decades than neighbours,” says David Lunn. “Before Janet died, she asked me for advice on how to best donate her money to charity, as she wanted the money to help as many people as possible, and to go directly to those who really needed it.

“We set up Evolhope as way of maximising the considerable bequest she entrusted us with. Instead of making a large one-off donation to a big charity, through Evolhope we can use our financial skills to wisely invest her bequest, ensuring it continues to grow and deliver to those who need it most.

“All Evolhope work is done on a pro bono basis by Lifestyle Wealth Partners and we have an annual day where different charities have the opportunity to come to bid for donations from the fund.

“Since its inception in 2008, Evolhope has grown from 2.3 million to 2.6 million, and maintained the original bequest amount and donated over $1.6m to our donor partners.”

Communities for Communities

Another charity David is heavily involved in is ‘Communities for Communities’, where he served on the board for seven years.

Communities for Communities is about fostering relationships and bringing communities together, fundraising over $2 million to help build houses, schools, and community facilities in disadvantaged villages overseas, as well as funding a playground and now a hydrotherapy facility at Lucas Gardens School in Sydney.

For David, going overseas to help build houses with Communities for Communities has become a rite of passage in his family. He has so far made the trip with his two eldest children and intends to take his 2 younger boys when they are old enough.

Abbotsford Junior Football Club

David served on the executive committee of AJFC for 8 years in a number of roles including Club Secretary.  He was awarded life membership of the Club not only for his executive roles but also for helping transform the Club using his engineering background.  By sourcing community funds from many sources, completion of Development Applications and working with the Mayor, councillors and senior management of the local council, the facilities for all Abbotsford players and the local community have been transformed.  Achievements made over the last 15 years include growing from 2 to 4 full size pitches, 2 light towers to 12, working with a local developer to secure a 180,000 litre water tank connected to an adjacent development roof and a multi million dollar state of the art amenities building incorporating a community hall and a commercial grade kitchen.  The benefits of these transformations will benefit the local community for decades.

Making a difference at every level

“It’s a real privilege to be able to give back to our community, at every level,” says David.

“In my own backyard, at my local football club and helping fundraise for local schools and charities like Lucas Gardens School and Bear Cottage. On a national level, through Evolhope, we assist a wide variety of charities across Australia every year, and even internationally, Communities for Communities has allowed us to reach out and connect with disadvantaged countries overseas.

For the team at Lifestyle Wealth Partners, with both financial planning and our charity work the real thrill is seeing the positive impact we get to make on other people’s lives…making a difference in ways that really matter.
